Trebuchet?

This is what my boys have been working on for a few weeks. A trebuchet. They are hoping to fling a bowling ball (or a pumpkin) 100 yards. This one went 23. They're getting there. The "treb" is made of spars (small straight trees) that are lashed together with twine - just like old times. This began as a project to teach the Scouts how to lash. . .

Helen-oh so funny...Collin and his high school buddies worked on one of these late this summer...throughout the project, Collin picked up some poison ivy, traipsing through the woods to retrieve some vegetable ammo that had gone in an unintentioned direction! Your little drummer girl should get together with my little drummer boy...before they both go off to college! Did Lori S. tell you they went to prom together??? Hope all is swell with you...Lynne M.
