Is Jenny watching this blog?

My mom made our clothes and often dressed us as triplets although there is 4 years between us. I don't remember having an aversion to it until we were in California. All dressed in coral tunics, clamdigger pants and kerchiefs. I would love to see that picture now . . . The older kids just got to wear what they wanted.

Grassy grass grass

Here is a recitation of a favorite poem we share in the FEATHERS (Village) class. Many of you have probably wondered about the recording, not like our others, but scratchy and old. Owned and borrowed from the Smithsonian, activist and artist Woody Guthrie performs it for us. Aiden performs it here, enjoy!

Kindermusik is good for your heart

For years, Miller, a research cardiologist, has been studying the effects of happiness -- or things that make people happy -- on our hearts. He began his research with laughter, and found watching funny movies and laughing at them could actually open up blood vessels, allowing blood to circulate more freely.

Miller thought, if laughter can do that, why not music? So, he tested the effects of music on the cardiovascular system. "Turns out music may be one of the best de-stressors -- either by playing or even listening to music," said Miller.

. . . here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

an excerpt. e.e. cummings

Happy Birthday dear sister, happy birthday to you.

Happy Birthday Mr. Presidents

There was a great story on NPR this morning about what President Lincoln would have loaded onto his ipod (if he had one). He had eclectic taste in music from "Dixie" to Opera. Learn more HERE
